Privacy Policy

Last Updated on September 1, 2026 by Umar Farooq

This Privacy Policy explains what information Dehumidifier Fix Lab (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects when you visit dehumidifierfixlab.com (the “Site”), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

Dehumidifier Fix Lab is an independent publication operated by Umar Farooq. For any privacy question or request, the data controller can be reached at umar.bwn@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us voluntarily

  • Email correspondence. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you provide it, and the contents of your message. We keep this only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up.
  • Comments. If commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string, which help with spam detection. An anonymised hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a public avatar.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we and our third-party providers automatically receive certain technical data when you visit, including your IP address (often truncated or anonymised), browser type and version, operating system and device type, screen size, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent on each page, scroll and click behaviour, and approximate location derived from your IP address (typically country or city level, not a precise location).

We do not knowingly collect payment card details, government identification numbers, precise GPS location, or special-category data such as health, biometric, religious, or political information.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The Site uses:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to function and to remember basic preferences such as whether you have dismissed a notice. WordPress may also set cookies if you comment or log in.
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand which guides are read, which are not, and where readers get stuck, so we can improve them.
  • Advertising cookies — used by advertising partners to select ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure ad performance.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause parts of the Site to stop working correctly.

4. Third-party services we use

We use the following providers, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:

  • Google Site Kit and Google Search Console — search performance data, reported in aggregate.
  • Google AdSense (Google LLC) — display advertising. See section 5 below.
  • Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) — behavioural analytics including heatmaps and session replay of page interactions. Clarity records how pages are used, not the contents of password or payment fields. Microsoft Privacy Statement
  • Hosting and content delivery — our hosting provider and CDN process server logs, including IP addresses, for security, abuse prevention, caching and performance.
  • Gravatar (Automattic) — avatar images for comments, where enabled.

5. Advertising and Google AdSense

This Site is supported by advertising and uses or intends to use Google AdSense. Please note the following:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and other sites on the internet.
  • Third-party ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this Site. We do not control their cookies, and we recommend consulting their privacy policies directly.

Where required by law, personalised advertising and non-essential cookies are used only after you have given consent, and you may withdraw that consent at any time.

6. How we use your information

  • To operate, secure, and maintain the Site
  • To answer your emails and handle correction requests
  • To understand which content is useful and improve or update it
  • To display advertising and measure its performance
  • To detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

7. Legal bases for processing (UK and EU visitors)

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on: consent for analytics and advertising cookies; legitimate interests for site security, abuse prevention, and basic aggregate statistics; contract or pre-contractual steps where you contact us with a request; and legal obligation where the law requires retention or disclosure.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, receive your data in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) you also have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing” — we do not sell personal information, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.

To exercise any of these rights, email umar.bwn@gmail.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, normally within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Data retention

Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry and any reasonable follow-up. Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely so that follow-up replies remain readable in context. Analytics and advertising data are retained according to the retention settings of the respective provider. Server logs are typically retained for a short period for security and diagnostic purposes.

10. Children’s privacy

This Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Data security

The Site is served over HTTPS, and we apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we hold. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International data transfers

Our providers, including Google and Microsoft, operate globally, so your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States. These providers rely on recognised transfer mechanisms such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and applicable data privacy frameworks.

13. Links to other sites

Our guides link to manufacturer documentation, retailers, and other external resources. Once you follow a link you are on a third-party site governed by that site’s own privacy policy, and we are not responsible for its content or data practices.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site, the law, or our providers change. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be made prominent on the Site. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.

15. Contact

Questions about this policy or about how your data is handled? Email umar.bwn@gmail.com or use our Contact page.
