Affiliate Disclosure

Last Updated on September 1, 2026 by Umar Farooq

The short version

Some links on dehumidifierfixlab.com are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. It never costs you a penny extra, and it never changes what we recommend.

That’s the whole disclosure. The rest of this page explains it properly, because we think you deserve to know exactly how a free site pays for itself.

What an affiliate link actually is

An affiliate link is an ordinary product link with a tracking code attached. When you click it, the retailer records that you arrived from our site. If you buy something during that visit, the retailer pays us a small percentage of the sale as a referral fee.

The price you pay is identical to the price you’d pay going to the retailer directly. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your wallet.

Programmes we participate in

  • Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Dehumidifier Fix Lab is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated international Amazon sites.
  • Other retailer and manufacturer affiliate programmes, where relevant to the product being discussed. These may include appliance retailers, spare-parts suppliers, and tool vendors.

We add programmes as the site grows and remove them when they stop being useful to readers. This page is updated when that happens.

Display advertising

Separately from affiliate links, the site runs display advertising, including ads served through Google AdSense. These ads are selected automatically by the ad network based on page content and, where permitted, your browsing history — we do not choose individual advertisers.

An ad appearing on this site is not an endorsement. We have no relationship with the advertisers whose ads appear and no control over their claims. How advertising cookies work is explained in our Privacy Policy.

How this affects what we recommend — it doesn’t

This is the part that matters, so we’ll be specific about the rules we hold ourselves to:

  • We recommend the product that solves your problem, not the one with the best commission rate. If the right answer is a £20 replacement humidistat instead of a £250 new unit, we say so.
  • We recommend repair over replacement whenever repair is genuinely the better call — even though a repair earns us far less than a new appliance would.
  • We tell you when not to buy anything. Plenty of our guides end with “clean the filter and the coil, and you’re done.” That’s the correct answer even though it earns nothing.
  • We publish the flaws. Where we point out a product, we describe what it’s bad at as well as what it’s good at.
  • We do not sell reviews, rankings, placements, guest posts, or links. No amount of money buys a position on this site or a change to what a guide says. Enquiries of that kind are declined.
  • No advertiser or affiliate partner reviews our content before publication. Nobody outside this site sees a guide before you do.

If we ever fail to live up to this, we want to hear about it: umar.bwn@gmail.com.

How we choose the products we mention

Product suggestions come from the same research process as everything else here: manufacturer specifications and service documentation, published capacity and performance figures, spare-parts availability, warranty terms, repairability, and the failure patterns we see reported again and again by owners and technicians. Our full process is documented in our Editorial Policy.

We prioritise units that are serviceable — ones with obtainable spare parts and a documented service procedure — because a dehumidifier you can fix is worth more than one you have to throw away.

Prices and availability

Prices, specifications, stock levels, and product listings change constantly and are not controlled by us. Any price mentioned on this site reflects what we saw when the page was written or last updated and may be out of date. Always confirm the current price and specification on the retailer’s own page before you buy.

Where you’ll see disclosures

In addition to this page, an affiliate disclosure appears near the top of any guide that contains affiliate links, so you’re told before you click rather than after.

Why we’re telling you all this

Partly because it’s the right thing to do, and partly because it’s the law. In the United States, the Federal Trade Commission requires clear and conspicuous disclosure of material connections between an endorser and a seller (16 CFR Part 255, the Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising). Similar rules apply in the UK under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations and in the EU under the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive.

We’d disclose it anyway. A troubleshooting site is only useful if you can trust that the advice is aimed at fixing your appliance rather than at selling you a new one.
